Police have descended on a quiet Greater Manchester estate following an incident involving a 'car on fire'. Forensics investigators are in attendance on Beechwood Crescent, in Astley this morning (February 6).
It comes after emergency services were called out to the Wigan borough town in the early hours of the morning. Firefighters responded to a 'car on fire' on Beechwood Crescent at 1.50am.
Crime scene investigators have been seen gathering evidence from the scene. A brown Peugeot 5008 car appears to be the focus of their investigations.
The car appears to have a smashed window. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 1.50am on Thursday (February 6) one fire engine from Atherton fire station attended a car on fire on Beechwood Crescent, Astley.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire and were in attendance for around 30 minutes.” Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further information.
