Greek travel expert recommends three stunning islands that don't require a car
If the thought of dropping extra cash on a holiday car hire with ancient air conditioning isn't taking your fancy, there are a few Greek Islands that are walkable and somewhat off the map but just as charming as the mainstream spots.
Former Made In Chelsea star and travel fan Gabriella Ellis, who calls herself a 'Greek travel guru', took to TikTok to recommend her top three lesser-known Greek islands that are completely walkable if driving isn't an option for you. Her first recommendation for islands she "would suggest if you can't drive or don't want to drive on your Greek holiday" is Koufonissa.
Just a two hour ferry from Santorini, Gabriella said: "This place is an actual paradise and there is absolutely no need for a car here." She added: "In fact you can literally walk around the whole island in I’d probably say three hours tops."
She said there are no cars on Koufonissa, adding "there's only one taxi on the entire island." She added: "You can also get bikes to bike around." Pointing out the stunning beaches, she highlighted one spot called "angels eye" which is a natural formed rock pool you can swim in.
Coming in next was Symi. The most well known of Gabriella's three recommendations, this island is around a two hour ferry from Rhodes - which you can fly to from Manchester Airport. One commenter, Kalli4 said: "Went to Koufonissi and Symi loved both".
Gabriella said: "To me Symi is the most beautiful island in the world but I'm biased because I'm from there." She added: "You can walk all the way around the main harbour. It will take you about half an hour max and if you want to get to any of the beautiful beaches you can just take a boat taxi from the port."
