LIVE: Road closed off as police and firefighters descend following crash - latest updates

Emergency services have closed off a road near Warrington following a crash. Southworth Lane, in Winwick, is closed in both directions between Delph Lane and Smithy Brow this morning (February 19).

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service says firefighters were called out to the scene at 7.15am. One fire engine from Warrington is currently in attendance alongside Cheshire Police.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are currently in attendance at a road traffic collision involving two vehicles in Winwick, Warrington. Police are in attendance and have closed the road while crews deal with the incident."

An update on the Inrix traffic monitoring system added: "Southworth Lane in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident from Delph Lane to Smithy Brow."

The road connects Winwick and Croft, to the north of the town, near to the M6 and M62.
