LIVE court updates as more suspects appear over disorder in Greater Manchester

More suspects are set to appear in court today charged in connection with disorder in Greater Manchester over the weekend.

Scenes of violent disorder unfolded in Manchester city centre and in Bolton on Saturday and Sunday amid a widespread escalation of rioting across the UK. On Saturday, a demonstration organised under the banner of 'Enough is Enough' in Piccadilly Gardens became violent as attendees clashed with counter protesters and police.

On Sunday, a protest under the same name was held in Bolton with a counter-protest also staged. Missiles were thrown at police with several scuffles breaking out breaking the groups and officers.

Yesterday (Monday), a number of suspects - including a boy aged 16 - appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court in connection with the disorder in Bolton. They were the first to face justice with a judge slamming the 'shameful' scenes.

Greater Manchester Police's Chief Constable Stephen Watson vowed that those involved would 'be held accountable for their actions'. Today, more suspects are set to appear in the same court over the disorder.

According to Director of Public Prosecutions Stephen Parkinson, there have been around 100 charges in the wake of disorder across the UK.

He told the BBC:

“There have been about 100 charges that have been laid. As we heard last night, around 400 people arrested. So the majority of people have been released on bail
