Forecasters predict that the strong winds brought by Storm Lilian 'may lead to disruption to travel and infrastructure' throughout the morning. The warning also covers much of the north of England and parts of Scotland and Wales.
The strongest wind gusts in our region are expected between around 7am and 11am. It will then remain windy into the afternoon though gusts will slow down amid sunny intervals.
Drivers have been urged to take extra care on the roads this morning. A post on X this morning from the Bee Network said: "Storm Lilian - a @metoffice yellow weather warning is in place for strong winds until 11:00. If you're travelling on the network this morning, please plan ahead and take extra care."
National Highways said: "#StormLilian is coming. Strong winds could impact the region overnight into Friday morning. Slow down to minimise the impact of wind gusts. Be aware of high sided vehicles on more exposed roads."
