There is a huge emergency services presence at Salford Quays after reports of a person 'getting into difficulty' in the water. Police, firefighters and the ambulance service are at the scene this evening.
Greater Manchester Police said a specialist search team has been deployed as the emergency response continues. In a statement, the force said: "We were called at around 6.15pm to a report of a person getting into difficulty into the water at Salford Quays.

"Emergency services and specialist search teams are at the scene. The incident is ongoing."

Firefighters revealed they helped a young person who had got into difficulty in the water at Salford Quays earlier today, in a separate incident.
Crews have been at Salford Quays today, engaging with the public around staying safe in warmer weather.Whilst speaking to the public, crews noticed a young person in difficulty in the water and quickly worked to rescue them using a throwline.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said:
"At approximately 6:15pm on 16 July, firefighters were called to reports of a person in difficulty in the water at Salford Quays. Two fire engines from Salford station, a Technical Response Unit and a
