Newcastle United headlines as Eddie Howe outlines club transfer stance out in Austria

Here are your Newcastle United evening headlines for Saturday, July 16.

Eddie Howe has been chatting about Newcastle United's transfer plans out in Austria.

The Magpies boss revealed the club is trying to be adaptable to changing situations as they look to strengthen ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

So far, Howe has seen his side bolstered by the additions of Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Matt Targett, but has yet to see an attacker added to Newcastle's ranks this summer.

"I think we are looking at players, not necessarily one area of the team," Howe said in the aftermath of Newcastle's 3-0 win over 1860 Munich on Friday afternoon.

"I think you have to be adaptable. If we can't find the right player I might have to look at other positions. Certainly, we are looking at one or two players that could make the difference."

Amanda Staveley has revealed she wants help Newcastle United become a "global business".

The Newcastle co-owner, who played an instrumental role in last Autumn's takeover, was speaking during a recent CSM panel discussion where she outlined her intentions for the club.

"We want to grow Newcastle into a global business," Staveley said.

"That's going to take an awful lot of patience. Taking the club over, it was the most extraordinary season. I don't know if there are any Newcastle fans here but we were 20th.

"We were backed to be relegated so our priority wasn't thinking, 'Global stage!' It was just, 'Not be relegated'. Everything became very much closed in and it is only suddenly now we're looking we're safe, we're 11th.

"We want to see Newcastle make sure it can become a global brand but, to become a global brand, we've got to tell our story and attract new fans."
