LIVE: Police cordon off road near school after serious incident - latest updates

Police have cordoned off a road near a school in Bolton this afternoon.

Hindley Road is currently taped off both ways. It is closed from St James' C of E Primary School to the mini roundabout at Hartford Road and Marlbrook Drive.

Multiple police cars are stationed at the scene. Officers are guarding both ends of the cordon.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police for information.
