Tottenham Hotspur will assess the market before deciding whether to lure free agent Jesse Lingard to Hotspur Way, but the creative midfielder ‘is not a priority’ for Antonio Conte, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Having been appointed as Spurs’ head coach last November and secured Champions League qualification, Conte has been seeking reinforcements during the summer window.
Lingard is currently without a club after leaving Manchester United when his contract expired at the end of last month. According to the Telegraph, Tottenham are mulling over whether to offer the 29-year-old a deal ahead of the new season.
The report suggests Lingard, a 32-cap England international, is being considered as a potential option as Conte looks to add more homegrown talent to his midfield.
However, Spurs are not the only Premier League outfit showing an interest as West Ham have already made an offer to Lingard’s representatives.
