Ruben Amorim cut a thoughtful figure on the sidelines on Tuesday night as he watched his Sporting side win for what could be the final time.

A move to the Premier League has been seen as only a matter of time for the 39-year-old, who has gained plenty of admirers during his career in management.

Last season, Amorim flew out to England to discuss a move to West Ham before finally admitting that the Iron were not the right club and apologising to supporters for his indiscretion.

Switching to East London was certainly not palatable to the Sporting fans considering the relative statures of both clubs, and it is likely Amorim spotted that himself post-meeting.
