I saw Ruben Amorim's press conference and know when he will join Man United

Ruben Amorim cut a thoughtful figure on the sidelines on Tuesday night as he watched his Sporting side win for what could be the final time.

A move to the Premier League has been seen as only a matter of time for the 39-year-old, who has gained plenty of admirers during his career in management. Last season, Amorim flew out to England to discuss a move to West Ham before finally admitting that the Iron were not the right club and apologising to supporters for his indiscretion.

Switching to East London was certainly not palatable to the Sporting fans considering the relative statures of both clubs, and it is likely Amorim spotted that himself post-meeting. Since that fateful day, the Portuguese head coach has aired on the side of caution when discussing his plans for the future and what he wishes to do next.

He kept his cards close to his chest when Liverpool were contemplating him and kept pretty schtum on Manchester United even with the inevitable on the horizon. "Nothing is decided yet... I don't know if it's the farewell game or not. I have nothing more to say, we are analysing the game and anything I say will only create more noise. There is nothing concrete," he told reporters post-match on Tuesday.

When he was eventually drawn out of his defensive position, Amorim reiterated one factor in this whole process - his contract. He referred to Sporting's statement pre-match about United being willing to pay his £8.3m release clause but would not be drawn on why that clause exists or his contract with Sporting in general.
