Two prominent batters, who were completely overlooked in the India vs Australia series despite the batting department not firing in unison, were Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Sarfaraz Khan showed potential in the six Tests that he has played, Easwaran has been scoring consistently well at the domestic level. Former India star Sanjay Manjrekar has a stern message over the players getting overlooked. 

The members of India A squad led by Abhimanyu Easwaran reached England on Sunday ahead of their matches against England Lions starting from June 3 onwards. As a part of the tour, India A will play two first-class matches against the England Lions at Canterbury and Northampton on May 30 and June 6, before concluding their outing with an intra-squad match against Team India on June 13 at Beckenham. Pacer Tushar Deshpande posted a picture posing with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tanush Kotian, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Abhimanyu, captioned, "Work crew".

Ahead of the fourth Test against India at Melbourne, Australian skipper Pat Cummins said that the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) pitch looks "nice and firm" with a "bit of grass coverage" and it could help spinner Nathan Lyon as well. With the series level at 1-1, both sides will be playing the much-anticipated Boxing Day Test with an aim to secure an all-important series lead needed to push a case for the ICC World Test Championship final. Speaking ahead of the game in a pre-match presser, Cummins said about the pitch, "Pitch looks really good, quite consistent to what it has here for the last few years, I think, you know, a bit of grass coverage, feels nice and firm, so they (curators) have done a great job here for, you know, probably the last five, six years, their pitches and I suspect the same this year."

Only two days remain for the first India vs Australia Test in Perth. It is all but certain that Rohit Sharma will not lead the side as he is in India for personal reasons. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side in his place. According to a report in Indian Express, the Gautam Gambhir-coached side will go with only one spinner in Ravichandran Ashwin. It is also likely to go with three pacers and a fast bowling all rounder in Nitish Reddy, who has not yet played Tests for India.

As India tours Australia, one of the stars that will intrigue throughout the series is Bumrah. Tasked with a mission to help India reach the ICC World Test Championship final for the third successive time despite a humiliating series loss to New Zealand at home, all eyes will be on the star pacer as India's 'golden arm' makes the most of the most difficult things happen, just when they look impossible. Speaking to 7Cricket, Bumrah who would lead his side in the first Test, said that Team India are banking on self-belief and they are having the conversation in the team.

India were dealt a telling blow on Saturday after star top-order batter Shubman Gill sustained a left thumb fracture which is likely to rule him out of the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth, starting November 22. Gill, one of the young heroes of India's last Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph, is a batting mainstay and in case skipper Rohit Sharma opts out of the first Test, India's top-order could look very thin.

India are set to face Australia in a five-match Test series, starting November 22. The series, known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is crucial for the Indian cricket team as it has its World Test Championship (WTC) final fate hanging on it. Visitors India need to win 4-0 in Australia to qualify for the summit clash comfortably, otherwise they will have to depend on various other results. Ahead of the all-important series, India head coach and former player Gautam Gambhir was asked on JioCinema to name the player, who could bat for 11 hours to defend a Test match. Gambhir replied "All the top seven."

The first batch of the Indian team departed for Australia on Sunday night from Mumbai Airport for the highly-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first ball of the BGT series will be bowled in Perth on November 22. For the series that could potentially decide the fate of the World Test Championship 2025 final, the Indian team is leaving in two batches. Speedsters Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep were spotted at the airport along with assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. All-rounder Washington Sundar, middle-order Sarfaraz Khan and star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal were also present in the first batch that left for Australia.
