New Zealand completed another dominant victory against Pakistan in the second T20I of the 5-match series on Tuesday, beating the tourists by 6 wickets in a rain-marred contest. Batting first, Pakistan put a decent total of 135/9 on the board, in a 15-over-per-side contest but New Zealand chased it down with ease. Much like the first T20I, Pakistan bowlers failed to step up to the challenge against the Kiwis. Even the travelling side's marquee pacer, Shaheen Afridi, was torn apart by the hosts' batters.

Pakistan cricket team is going through a bad phase. After being knocked out of the group stage in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan lost 1-4 in a T20I series against New Zealand and then were outplayed 0-3 in an ODI series. Now, Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against New Zealand in the third ODI in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. "The visitors have been fined for the third successive game in the recently concluded series against the Black Caps," the ICC said in a release. The 1st ODI of the series happened on March 29, the second on April 2 and the third on April 5. The third sanction was announced on Monday. 

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has launched a tirade at the team after the ODI series whitewash at the hands of New Zealand on Saturday. After a 4-1 humiliation in the T20I series, the visitors hit a new low in the ODI series, going down 3-0 after a 43-run loss in Mount Maunganui on Saturday. While analysing the match, Basit blasted the players, labelling the day as "the black day in Pakistan cricket". Basit pointed out how Pakistan once used to dominate New Zealand in such conditions when Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were toying with the Kiwi batters.

Pakistan's debacle in the limited-over tour of New Zealand, which ended on Saturday, attracted strong criticism from former cricketers and fans, with batting great Javed Miandad calling for "sidelining" of players and officials who have not given 100 per cent to the team's cause. New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 43 runs in the third and final ODI at Mount Maunganui on Saturday for a 3-0 clean sweep in the 50-over series. Pakistan had lost the preceding five-match T20I series 1-4, thereby winning just one match in the whole limited-over tour.

Pakistan faced a big blow during the third ODI match against New Zealand on Saturday in Mount Maunganui. Pakistan's captain Mohammad Rizwan said the team needs to improve. "Disappointing series for us. (Positives) Babar was in good touch with two fifties. Naseem Shah's batting as well. In the bowling, Sufiyan Muqeem was the guy who bowled really well. I give credit to New Zealand in all departments. They've been playing well. We know that these are difficult conditions for us here, but they played in Pakistan really well. They played against us in Pakistan. There are professionals in all departments. We need to improve, that's it." Mohammad Rizwan said at the post-match presentation.

The final ODI of the New Zealand vs Pakistan series was witness to some ugly scenes as Khushdil Shah was dragged away by the security. Several social media users claimed that Khushdil Shah was angry with some fans at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. Some other accounts claimed that he was angry due to anti-Pakistan slogans. Security had to step in as a fan could be seen restraining the cricketer. 

The third ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui faced an extremely strange problem. In the 39th over of the Pakistan batting innings, there was a massive power failure in the stadium, causing all the floodlights to shut off instantly. This left the players in complete darkness, unable to see the play. The incident could've proved to be very dangerous as well, happening just as Kiwi pacer Jacob Duffy was about to deliver his ball.

While the series-opener in McLean Park was a bit cagey, the game in Hamilton reverberated with the Kiwis' dominance. Pakistan were beaten comprehensively in all facets of the game. Mitchell Hay's unbeaten 99* tormented Pakistan bowlers, while Ben Sears, with his maiden five-wicket haul, was a nightmare for the visitors.
