Hannibal Mejbri heading back to Birmingham City on loan again from Manchester United would be a good move for both the player and the Championship club.

That's the view of former England midfielder Carlton Palmer. The 20-year-old Tunisia international has spent the recently concluded regular season in the second tier of English football with the Blues on loan from United.

He became a regular for John Eustace's side during that time. Birmingham ended the campaign in 17th place, with Mejbri playing 41 times in all competitions and scoring once, a free-kick in the win over West Bromwich Albion which was voted the Championship club's goal of the season. READ MORE: Erik ten Hag has seven Manchester United players he can completely count on Mejbri, who has played three times for the Old Trafford club, has a long-term deal at United running until the summer of 2026.

It remains to be seen where he will be playing his football in the 2023/24 campaign. But Palmer believes that after a 'decent' spell at St Andrew's, the Blues ought to try and secure the midfielder again on loan next season.
