The Washington Commanders are reportedly "all-in" on Sam Howell to take the reins as the starting quarterback for the 2023 season and beyond, but it appeared they had a backup plan just in case his development didn't go as planned.
Howell only appeared in one game during the season and was 11-of-19 for 169 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception.
Washington mostly used Tyler Heinicke and Carson Wentz in 2022. ESPN reported Saturday that Howell will be given the first opportunity at the starting job in 2023.
