UK heatwave LIVE updates as extreme heat warning in place for Greater Manhcester

A warning for extreme heat is in place from today with the UK set to be baked in a heatwave. A Met Office amber warning is in place for much of England including Greater Manchester with temperatures in the region today expected to hit 29C.

A red warning is the most serious of all, meaning "dangerous weather is expected" and is likely to bring "a risk to life". The Met Office explains: "If you haven’t already done so, you should take action now to keep yourself and others safe from the impact of the severe weather.
