Major police presence with fire crews at scene after body found in Oldham - live updates

There is a major police presence on a street in Oldham this afternoon, with numerous fire crews also in attendance after a body was found at a property. Officers have been spotted on Bower Street in the north Manchester town today (July 25).

Police have since confirmed that there is an investigation underway into the death of the person. Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts will read a statement to the media this afternoon, and Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes will also answer questions about the incident.

Forensics and the fire service are also in attendance at the property and have been throughout the afternoon. The Urban Search and Rescue team are also at the site, with a cordon in place currently whilst enquiries are made.

Pictures from the scene this afternoon show emergency services conducting their investigations. Multiple police vehicles, as well as fire crews are in attendance. Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service have been approached for further information.
