Strictly Come Dancing 2022 line up: Coronation Street star announced as first contestant - live updates

Strictly Come Dancing 2022 is officially on it's way as names have begun being dropped for this years' competition. BBC One has been teasing content ahead of this year, and fans are thrilled that the line up has started to be announced.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke are returning to the panel, while four new professionals are joining the line-up. They are European cup winner Vito Coppola, Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu, former Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas. Last year, the line up was shared over a week-long period in August. You can see the rumoured line up here. The glitterball was taken home by Rose Ayling-Ellis and professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

BBC One kicked off the announcements with actor Will Mellor. The actor, 46, starred as Gaz in cult noughties sitcom Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, also landing roles in the likes of Line Of Duty and Broadchurch.

He joined the cast of ITV soap Coronation Street in 2021 as "out-and-out baddie" drugs lord Harvey, and also starred in Hollyoaks in the early days of his career.

The Launch Show is confirmed for September 7, leaving just over a month between now and the beginning of the competition.
