'That's enough' - Rasmus Hojlund has the key attribute to embrace Manchester United shirt change

The weight of expectation for Rasmus Hojlund will come in the history of the shirt he cradled at Carrington this week, rather than the shoulders he has removed it from.

After a year as United's No.11 playing as their only recognised striker, Hojlund is now the club's No.9, after Anthony Martial's departure at the end of last season. By the time of his final season, nobody was mourning Martial's exit.

The Frenchman produced his best season wearing No.9, scoring 23 goals in 48 games in 2019/20, but since then his record in the shirt is 19 goals in 95 games. It's been a long time since he looked like a Manchester United striker.

Now, the pressure to fulfil that brief falls to Hojlund, whose record in his first season at the club was respectable, with enough peaks to suggest the promise of a £72m price tag and enough troughs to remind everyone he still has room to develop.

The Dane was back at Carrington in time to jet off for the pre-season tour having enjoyed a break after his Euro 2024 involvement. His social media channels have revealed just how good a time the 22-year-old has had this summer and he will be happy to consign his first international tournament to the recess of his mind, having struggled to make an impact for Denmark.
