Rasmus Hojlund breaks silence after Man United injury blow with new summer plans clear

Rasmus Hojlund has offered an insight into his recovery after suffering an injury that is expected to keep him out of action for around three weeks. With Manchester United set to start their Premier League campaign on August 16, and the Community Shield approaching this weekend, it is a huge blow.

Erik ten Hag does have reinforcement up front after signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna but he is yet to play a minute this summer. Hojlund himself had a limited amount of game time following his appearances at Euro 2024 with Denmark.

The 21-year-old only featured in one of the three friendlies played in America during the tour and also missed matches against Rosenborg and Rangers prior to that. His appearance against Arsenal was also cut short shortly into the match.

Hojlund managed to score an early opener but was replaced by Hannibal Mejbri six minutes later. After the game Ten Hag was hopeful that things wouldn't be too bad. His fears were compounded by Leny Yoro also being forced off.

"We have to wait 24 hours and then we will hopefully know more," he said at the time. "We were very careful, especially with Leny. It is disappointing he had to come off but let's be positive and see what comes out."

The news was not good though and MEN Sport understands it is unlikely that Hojlund will play again before the first international break of the season. That comes after the clash against Liverpool on September 1.

There will be a two-week break from domestic action before United travel to Southampton on September 14, by which time Hojlund could return, but it would see him miss
