'It will never happen' – Man United Treble winner doesn't hold back with Rasmus Hojlund verdict

Manchester United icon Dwight Yorke doesn't believe Rasmus Hojlund can be a 20-goal-a-season striker for the club.

Hojlund, who signed from Atalanta in a £70million deal in August 2023, has endured an inconsistent time at Old Trafford. Scoring 16 goals last season, the Danish forward saw an upturn in form in the second half of the campaign - but that wasn't enough to withstand criticism, including that from Yorke, and he's even been linked with a move away from United.

The 21-year-old made 43 appearances for the club in his maiden campaign at Old Trafford, yet ex-United striker Yorke is of the opinion that the striker is "lacking something". Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League Betting, the 52-year-old, who won the treble with United in 1999, thinks the "X-factor" is also evading the young striker.

"He's still young but even watching him at Euro 2024, he's lacking something. I'm not quite sure what it is. He's not got that X-factor that you look for in strikers," Yorke argued. "I think he's a good player. I think that's the category I would put him in as he's still very developing and there is huge hope for the kid and I wish him the best but I’m not seeing it just yet."

Yorke also said he agreed with former Liverpool and United striker Michael Owen's view on Hojlund. The ex-England international believes Hojlund could be a "fantastic" player for the Red Devils, but that you would normally associate such a transfer fee with a player who can guarantee you 30 goals a season.
