Motherwell's Lennon Miller ruled out until 2024 as Paul McGinn faces spell on sidelines

Motherwell have been dealt two huge blows with the news talented teen midfielder Lennon Miller and experienced defender Paul McGinn will be sidelined for lengthy spells.

Seventeen-year-old Miller was injured in the Steelmen's 4-2 defeat to Aberdeen on November 1 and has been ruled out for a minimum of three months with a knee issue, meaning he won't return until after the winter break in January next year.

And Paul McGinn will be out for around six weeks after undergoing surgery on a facial injury sustained in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.

It is the last thing the struggling Steelmen wanted to hear amid a slump in form and a run of eight games without a win.

Last night's battling 2-2 draw at St Johnstone, which saw Stuart Kettlewell's side rally from 2-0 down, has them eighth in the table and desperate for a win when they welcome Hearts in a Premiership clash on Saturday.

A statement from the Steelmen read: "Lennon Miller and Paul McGinn have both picked up injuries that will keep them out for a period of time.

"17-year-old Lennon Miller sustained an injury against Aberdeen in the cinch Premiership at the start of November.

"As a result, it’s expected he will face a minimum of three months on the sidelines to achieve a full recovery.

"Paul McGinn picked up a facial injury against Kilmarnock and has underwent surgery.

"The surgeon has advised us that he is expected to be out for approximately six weeks.

"Speedy recovery, Lennon and Paul."
