Michael Beale Rangers press conference in full as golden transfer rule set for further signings

It's been a summer of squad building at Rangers but now Michael Beale is about to see what his new recruits are all about.

The competitive season is upon the Light Blues and it's a huge week to kick off with, travelling to Kilmarnock on Saturday before a Champions League third round qualifier first leg against Servette on August 9th, and then a first home Premiership match of the campaign against Livingston three days later. Beale has made no fewer than nine signings this term and Jose Cifuentes of LAFC is the latest, and the midfielder goes straight into Rugby Park contention.

Now the attention turns to moulding this squad for the boss, and ensure the next couple of transfer windows become opportunities for fine-tuning rather than rebuilding. He said: "I think we can tighten the squad up a little bit more. If we were to lose a player we weren't expecting to, we can certainly go into the market and replace.

"But the big thing now is consistency over the next couple of windows of playing with these players and this group. We have lowered the average of the squad and it's important we let this team show their ambition on the pitch.

"The motivation around the building seems to have gone up a few notches but that is just words. Let's show it on the pitch now."
