Ianis Hagi considering Rangers transfer exit as Michael Beale reveals agent talks over potential move

Michael Beale insists he has no issue with Ianis Hagi despite axing him from his Champions League squad for the playoff clash with PSV Eindhoven - but revealed the Romanian could be heading for the exit as the player and his agent hold talks over a potential move.

Hagi admitted his frustration at a lack of game time after coming off the bench in the Viaplay Cup last-16 win over Morton at Ibrox Stadium. And Hagi has now been dumped from the Euro squad list, with Rabbi Matondo coming in for him.

But Beale - who handed Hagi a new deal shortly after taking over at Ibrox - said: “I have no issue with Ianis. He did well at the weekend. He wants to play as a starter and we might look at that before the window closes. He is competing with (Todd) Cantwell and (Sam) Lammers here. Ianis has worked very hard over the summer to be fit. He isn’t at an optimal fitness level yet. He wants to play week in week out and that isn’t guaranteed at Rangers. Ianis and his agent have been looking at things in the last week or so and have had an ongoing discussion. We can't guarantee him first team football here and no one is.

"Ianis spoke after three or four days of pre-season about how he had missed a year. I brought Ianis back into the team against Partick Thistle last year very early into his rehab and it was clear at that moment that he wasn't ready. Over the summer, he's worked really hard to be fit.

"Ben (Davies) and Rabbi (Matondo come back into the European squad. Regardless of what happens tomorrow night we need a performance in Eindhoven. We are playing against probably the toughest team at this stage. I am looking for a strong performance to set up the second leg.”
