Kris Boyd looks beyond Rangers transfer solutions to solve Michael Beale jigsaw as he sees best way to unleash Danilo

Kris Boyd was full of praise for Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo after Michael Beale's side won 4-0 in Premiership action against Livingston - as the boss goes looking for specific attacking qualities.

Goals from Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima, Danilo and Kieran Dowell capped off a quartet of summer signings who got in on the act against the Lions, and it secured a first three points of the season. Now attentions turn to a crucial Champions League third round qualifier against Servette in Geneva, with the tie 2-1 in Beale's favour after the first clash at Ibrox.

Former striker Boyd was looking back on the match in Govan and insisted Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo proved a livewire with his pace, coming off the back of comments from the boss that he was looking for an extra attacking spark in the form of 'someone like a Ryan Kent.' Boyd tells Sky Matondo showed some key traits: "I thought Rabbi Matondo when he came on did really well and is probably another option for Michael Beale as in that wide area, Rangers have lacked that creativity, spark and even pace just to go in behind.

"He definitely brought that when he came on, Matondo. I thought Danilo was better when he came through the middle and it's a good header into the back of the net.

"Jose Cifuentes was impressive on his debut. It was a good afternoon's work for Michael Beale's team and in the end they ran out comfortable winners.

"It's obviously good to get off the mark, especially from the forward players. It is obviously going to take time but in Scotland you don't get time. It was better from Rangers in spells, you can see there's signs of improvements and I am sure for Michael Beale and Rangers it will only get better, and it will have to."
