Celtic have gone from relentless machine to 'unknown quantity' but firepower still gives Ross County star nightmares

Celtic are something of an 'unknown quantity' this season and might not be as relentless as they were last season.

That is the view of Ross County captain Jack Baldwin, who played as his side lost all three league games to the eventual Scottish champions last season who went on to secure a Treble under previous boss Ange Postecoglou. It's the 'relentless' tag that many opposition players and managers found themselves using to describe the Hoops, but a changing of the guard in Brendan Rodgers making his return will mark the same success for many as he one-upped Postecoglou by winning every trophy available to him during his first spell.

And the Irishman will take centre stage again on Saturday as the flag is unfurled against Malky Mackay's side and the pursuit of another domestic clean sweep begins. On their tails are Rangers, bolstered by Michael Beale's nine new summer recruits and the Staggies, who narrowly avoided the drop to the Scottish Championship last season, know all too well that perils of playing the big two.

Baldwin, however, insists there is an unknown about the Treble chasers this season but that they are undoubtedly the superior team in the division. He told Sky Sports: “We’ll still approach the game the same way we do every other game. There has been a change at Celtic and as players whenever there’s change you need that time to settle. Last year Celtic were relentless with everything they did. Will they be the same again this year? I’m not sure, it’s a bit of an unknown quantity.

“But they’ve still got the bulk of the players there from last year so I’ve got no doubt they’ll still have the same standards set among the group. It will just be whether the new manager has changed the style of play slightly,
