Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund working on final details of Jadon Sancho loan deal

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are still thrashing out the final details of a deal that will see Jadon Sancho return to his former club on loan for the rest of the season.

The two clubs have an outline agreement in place for the deal to happen and all parties are determined to get it over the line, but one source said "important details are still be resolved" and obstacles need to be cleared before the move is signed off.

Dortmund have been hoping Sancho will sign in time to join them on their winter training camp in Marbella but it is understood the deal is not certain to be concluded this weekend. The deal in place between the two clubs doesn't include an option to make the move permanent, while Dortmund are expected to pay a small loan fee and contribution to Sancho's wages.

The 23-year-old has been keen to return to Dortmund once they expressed an interest in signing him in the January transfer window, but he hasn't played for more than four months and has been training on his own since September.

Sancho was banished from first-team training after accusing manager Erik ten Hag of lying about his absence from the squad for the game at Arsenal, claiming he was being made a "scapegoat".

Sancho made substitute appearances in the first three games of the Premier League season, but was left out of the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on September 3, with Ten Hag subsequently saying the decision was down to performances in training, adding that players "have to reach a level every day at Manchester United."
