Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe 'meets' Cristiano Ronaldo super agent to improve transfer plan

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly held a meeting to extend the club’s recruitment network.

United have already made moves to revamp the team’s transfer strategy. Since the Ineos group bought a minority stake in United, Jason Wilcox has been appointed as technical director, while Dan Ashworth is also in the process of leaving Newcastle to become United’s sporting director.

It is all part of United improving the club’s recruitment planning, with Ratcliffe’s Ineos group overseeing footballing operations. Ratcliffe has previously spoken about how the club should conduct their transfer business and is claimed to be taking a hands-on approach.

A report from the Mirror states that Ratcliffe has met with super agent Jorge Mendes to strengthen their contacts ahead of the summer window. Medes, who represents the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Neves and Rafael Leao, has been heavily relied upon by Wolves and Nottingham Forest in the past.

Neves and Leao have both been linked with moves to Old Trafford. However, the latter may not fit into United’s new remit under Sir Jim Ratcliffe as the AC Milan striker has been touted to have a £100million price tag. Ratcliffe has previously shut down suggestions that United will focus on targeting high-profile players.
