Droylsden Road crash LIVE as road blocked with no trams running after 'serious' incident

A road is blocked following a serious crash today.

The crash, described as 'serious', has happened on the A662 Droylsden Road, in Audenshaw. The road is partially blocked in both directions following the incident around Kershaw Lane.

Inrix says: "A662 Droylsden Road in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident around Kershaw Lane."

Travel services have said that there are diversions in place with drivers warned to avoid the area. Trams have also been affected, Metrolink say.

Stagecoach tweeted: "SERVICE 216 Due to a SERIOUS RTC in Droylsden we are experiencing delays to the service of approximately 20 Mins , Apologies for the Delays in service."

They added: "SERVICE 7, 216 due to an RTC in Droylsden we are diverting the 216 onto Manchester Road, Fairfield Road Edge Lane, Market Street and the 7 Manchester Road, Capitol Road back on route, until further notice. Sorry if this affects your journey with us today."

Metrolink have posted: "Due to an accident, there are currently no tram services operating between Ashton and Droylsden. Ticket acceptance is in place on the 7 and 216 bus services, however due to a road closure, services are diverting via Manchester Road, Ashton Hill Lane and Market Street."

GMP have been contacted for information.
