Man United 'waterfall' anger as club insiders and Sir Jim Ratcliffe address Old Trafford incident

Shocking scenes of heavy rain leaking into Old Trafford and descending over seats after Manchester United's defeat against Arsenal have gone viral on social media. 'Man United Waterfall' started trending on Google as the club faced further embarrassment over its facilities.

United lost 1-0 against title-chasing Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and a deluge of rain struck Manchester as the game ended, with the downpour leaking into Old Trafford.

The club said 1.6 inches of rain came down in the two hours after the final whistle, which is more than half had fallen on Old Trafford throughout the whole of May 2023.

United sources privately conceded 'some parts of the stadium struggled to cope' but reiterated that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has created a Old Trafford task force to address such issues. The future of the ground is high on Ratcliffe's agenda and the United co-owner attended the Arsenal game.

However, those plans to regenerate Old Trafford haven't stopped fans from ripping into the state of Old Trafford on social media, with various clips of leaks going viral.

One video shows heavy rain soaking through Old Trafford's roof, another shows rain cascading over seats and there's also footage of a leak in the away team's dressing room.

United fans have protested against the Glazer family since they became majority shareholders in 2005 and the leaking roof at Old Trafford has become a symbol of their reign

Club sources have previously claimed to the MEN that any leaks at Old Trafford are fixed immediately after they are identified but that hasn't appeased angry supporters.
