Malik Tillman provides Rangers transfer windfall route but cash injection chances rest on 'mandatory' option

Malik Tillman is closing in on a move away from Bayern Munich - and it could come financial incentives for Rangers.

The Light Blues had the American international on loan last season and had a clause which allowed them to purchase the 21-year-old permanently for £5.8m, with the Bundesliga club able to buy him back for £9m. However, that agreement has been scrapped and because of that, Rangers banked £1m and it's believed they also land 10% of any future sale.

A plethora of clubs have been linked but Sky Germany claim it's now a straight shootout between Sheffield United and PSV for the playmaker. It will be another loan move for Tillman but with two ways to end his temporary stint either in England or Holland, 'an option to buy or a mandatory otb of more than €10m (£8.6m).' However, it's 'not 100%' clear what option will be picked as talks continue.

Rangers will hope the mandatory option is taken, as at a fee of €10m, they stand to make approximately £860k. A move of €11.6m would see them move into seven figures territory.

Boss Michael Beale's rebuild has continued without Tillman in his plans. Jose Cifuentes is his latest signing and the Ecuadorian midfielder could go into the squad that faces Kilmarnock in their league curtain raise on Saturday.
