Liverpool transfer opens door for next Man United deal as £27.5m update emerges
Liverpool might have inadvertently helped Manchester United sell a first-team player this summer.
Having completed deals for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee already, United are expected to sign Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich imminently. The Manchester Evening News understands United have had offers - worth £17million and £41million respectively - accepted by the Bundesliga giants.
It marks another double reunion for Erik ten Hag - who managed both players during his Ajax days - as key figures behind the scenes continue to refresh the options available to him. Barring confirmation, United have spent above £150million this summer and still have their eye on further additions - but that will be shaped by player sales.

Scott McTominay is among the names who could be sold. However, as things stand, United regard the Scot as an important squad player, while they have received three offers from Fulham for his signature.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Cottagers come calling for a fourth time but, if they do eventually opt to cash in on McTominay, then United clearly have an exact fee in mind. Fulham are said to have bid £23million for the 27-year-old Academy graduate, who was subject to interest from West Ham around 12 months ago.
The midfielder only has a year to run on his contract at Old Trafford.
