Man United set for Jose Mourinho reunion after Erik ten Hag complaints

Manchester United are set for a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho after drawing Fenerbahce in the Europa League league phase.

Erik ten Hag's team qualified for the competition after winning the FA Cup against Manchester City. Despite finishing eighth in the Premier League last season, victory at Wembley in May secured a place in Europe's second-tier completion, relegating sixth-placed Chelsea to the Conference League.

And the Europa League draw has taken place on Friday with a new league-style format. United have been drawn against Rangers, FC Porto, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt, Viktoria Plzen, FC Twente, FCSB and Mourinho's Fenerbahce.

It will be the first time Mourinho will come up against United since he was manager of Tottenham. His last match in charge of Spurs against the Reds was a 3-1 defeat in April 2021.

Speaking about his time at Old Trafford, Mourinho complained that he did not have the same level of support and trust as current United boss Ten Hag.

"My relationship with Ed Woodward was good - good as in the personal point of view," he told the Telegraph. "But from a professional point of view it was not the best.

"I am who I am. I am a football man. Ed comes from a different background and what Ten Hag has in his time at Manchester United I didn't have. I didn't have that level of support. I didn't have that level of trust.

"So I left sad, because I felt I was in the beginning of the process. In some moments, I felt if they trusted me and believed in my experience things could be different."
