Live updates as M56 near Manchester Airport closed due to 'police incident'
Traffic is at a standstill near Manchester Airport as a motorway slip road remains shut due to a police incident.
The M56 eastbound entry slip road is closed at junction 5 for Manchester Airport according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.
However, the National Highways website says that all lanes are also closed on the M56 westbound exit slip road at junction 5.
According to the highways body, traffic is 'not moving' on the approach to this junction with congestion building along the M56.

Traffic is also 'not moving' at junction 6 of the M56, according to National Highways which says the issue is due to a police incident.
Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
