Man United receive major Senne Lammens transfer update as manager speaks out
Royal Antwerp manager Stef Wils has provided an update on Senne Lammens, who is expected to miss their league game this weekend amid ongoing negotiations with Manchester United.
Although United are not planning on bringing in an undisputed No.1 between the sticks, the hierarchy have turned their attention to signing a new goalkeeper. It is still unclear who Ruben Amorim regards as his first-choice shot-stopper this season.
Andre Onana is yet to feature in the Premier League, but played in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town on Thursday. Meanwhile, Altay Bayindir has started both matches but has yet to make the impact he would have hoped for.
Lammens was absent from Antwerp's win over KV Mechelen last Sunday amid speculation about his future. Speaking to the media on Friday, Antwerp boss Stef Wils provided a transfer update on his goalkeeper.
"Senne is following an individual program, in consultation with all parties," he said. "That’s a logical decision. Since this could be a major outgoing transfer, we want to minimise the risk of injuries."
The 23-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer, though Antwerp are said to have no preference and are willing to sell the goalkeeper to the highest bidder.
Galatasaray have also expressed interest, with The Telegraph reporting that talks are underway with the Turkish club.
Sources note that meetings have taken place in Monaco to explore a potential deal. With the Turkish transfer deadline on September 12, Galatasaray have a little extra time if needed.
Currently, Lammens is not training and is set to miss Antwerp’s Belgian Pro League clash with Westerlo this evening.
