Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn praised by fans as she details honest 'struggle'

Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn has been praised by fans as she got honest about her 'struggle'. The actress took to social media with an "important" skincare update amid her struggles with acne.

Katie, who is best known for playing Sinead Tinker in the ITV soap, shared a picture of herself beaming for the camera, make-up free and with her blonde locks tied up into a bun. She was also sporting a sports bra as she posed for the snap.

"Girls, I don’t know about you but I really struggle with breakouts and acne, especially at this time of year when the weather changes..." the former soap star, who also appeared in Hollyoaks after leaving Corrie, started the caption of her post.

She continued: "For the past few weeks I’ve been dealing with one of the worst breakouts that I’ve had in 12 months, which could be down to lots of different factors - for me, I think the change in weather and also my hormones play a huge part in my skin issues, for other people it can be stress or environment related - or a host of other factors.

"But at the end of the day, we’re all humans and we all get spots and can have breakouts… so here’s a fresh-faced selfie just to say it’s perfectly ok to have imperfect skin and although I’m at the tail end of my breakout now and it’s calmed down a lot, I just wanted to share my thoughts and let you all know not to feel ashamed or embarrassed for having acne or skin issues."

And it didn't take long for the comments section to be filled with messages. @the_mindset_therapist_ said: "Love love LOVE this." @lisamaried27
