Former Arsenal striker makes exciting prediction about Manchester United ace Rasmus Hojlund

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith is backing Rasmus Hojlund to deliver the goods at Manchester United following his summer arrival from Atalanta.

After United's hopes of signing Harry Kane faded they turned to Hojlund, signing him in a deal that could be worth up to £72million. He put pen to paper on a long-term deal, with United hoping he will deliver the goals they are desperately in need of.

Though he has only scored once in his first five outings for the club, netting United's opening goal in their 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich last week, his performances have featured plenty of positive signs. He was also desperately unlucky to see what he thought was his first United goal chalked off in the 3-1 defeat to Brighton earlier this month.

Proving both quick and physical, Hojlund has so far demonstrated that he has the potential to be an exciting player for Erik ten Hag's side. And for former Gunners ace Smith, Hojlund could prove to be a valuable asset at Old Trafford.

"I like what I've seen of Hojlund so far," Smith told Lord Ping. "When he made his full debut against Brighton he was enthusiastic and quick.

"He makes good runs. I think he's one of those players that will nick United goals in games.

"He had a goal ruled out against Brighton and he got a bit of a scrappy one against Bayern, but he was in the right areas, and he seems to have a poacher's instinct. I think that's a great sign for Erik ten Hag.

"It's really hard to coach a poacher's instinct into a player. If he gets a run of games, he'll get a run of goals."
