Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund makes Erling Haaland admission when asked about Man City star

Rasmus Hojlund says he does not like constant comparisons with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland but crowned the Norwegian as the world’s best attacker.

Links have been made between the Manchester United summer signing and Haaland with both being tall, blonde and from Scandinavia, with the pair now plying their trade in the same city. However, the two players boast alternate assets to their game and are at different stages of development.

Hojlund has admitted he is striving to reach the high levels of Haaland, who scored 52 times in 53 matches last season. The Dane - who netted 10 at Atalanta last term - is eager to forge his own path in Manchester as United try to bridge the gap to the Treble winners.

“I hope that one day I can reach his level, but right now, I think it is too early," Hojlund conceded when speaking about Haaland to TV2. "Erling is in any case the world's best striker, if not the world's best footballer.

“I don't really want to be compared to him, but I hope that one day I can be like him. Who knows? I am only 20 years old. We will have to see what it can end up with."

The duo square off in this month’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford, a venue in which City controversially lost 2-1 to United back in January. Haaland did not get on the scoresheet that day but Hojlund said he is still the man to mute.

He added: "As I said, Erling is a class player. He has had some absolutely outstanding years! He must stop when we meet him! He is a crazy football player. I try to learn from him.”
