Fabian Rieder transfer bombshell amid Celtic clamour as Swiss star 'set to go abroad'

Young Boys sporting director Christoph Spycher has admitted top prospect Fabian Rieder looks certain to leave soon, amid mounting speculation of interest from Celtic.

The 21-year-old Swiss international midfielder has reportedly attracted admiring glances from Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers. Celtic have a huge transfer budget with the imminent departure of Jota and they want to strengthen several areas of the team. Rieder burst onto the scene when he netted at Old Trafford against Manchester United in a Champions League game in 2021. And he's been linked with several European clubs after another fine season for Young Boys as they clinched the Swiss title again.

And sports director Spycher is realistic about Rieder's future. He said: "Fabian Rieder and I have come a long way together and we maintain a trusting working relationship. I know Fabian will make the right decision for himself when it comes to it. Sometimes patience is required in such cases. But I am convinced that his future will be abroad in the short or medium term. He has the quality to play in a top league. I'm 100 per cent sure of that."
