Maik Nawrocki to Celtic transfer addressed as Legia Warsaw boss reveals 'serious offer' and is resigned to losing star

Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic revealed there is a “serious offer on the table” for £4million Celtic target Maik Nawrocki as the Hoops step up their pursuit of the Polish stopper.

The 22-year-old former Werder Bremen defender has emerged as a target for last season’s Treble winners as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen a rearguard that shipped six goals in the first pre-season friendly of their tour of the Far East against Yokohama Marinos.

And now Legia manager Runjaic, speaking ahead of the big kick off in the Polish Ekstraklasa season, has admitted the concrete interest in his player who is also reportedly attracting interest from Galatasaray. The Austrian boss stopped short of naming the club but admitted: “The information has already leaked out, there is a serious offer on the table, but at the moment these are internal consultations. You can count on Maik Nawrocki leaving our club soon.”

Rodgers is looking to beef up his rearguard to provide competition for Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, with the latter set to miss some of the opening games of the season as he recovers from surgery. And Nawrocki has been identified by the Parkhead side as an ideal candidate.
