Connor Goldson 'undergoes' Rangers exit medical in Cyprus as first major transfer domino set to tumble

Connor Goldson is in Cyprus for a medical ahead of sealing his exit from Rangers, according to a report.

The long-serving defender looks set to bring the curtain down on a six-year spell at Ibrox. His next destination isn't yet confirmed, and he has been linked with a switch to Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq in the Saudi pro League. However, reports suggest that the 31-year-old centre back is in talks with Aris Limassol over a move.

Goldson looked to be heading for the exit door in 2022, but in a shock move, put pen to paper on a new four-year deal after Gers clinched the Scottish Cup under Gio van Bronckhorst. Two years on though and this looks like the end of his Light Blues career with Philippe Clement having to move players on before he can bring any more in this summer, and high earner Goldson seems an obvious choice.

Captain James Tavernier could be joining him. The skipper is wanted by Trabzonspor, who it is claimed have already agreed personal terms with the highest scoring British defender in history. A move there would see him reunite with John Lundstram and Borna Barisic, who made the move to Turkey earlier this summer after their Rangers contracts expired.

However, Besiktas are also said to be keen on Tavernier. Former Ibrox boss van Bronckhorst is in charge of the Istanbul club and would like to add Tavernier to his squad and could yet rival Trabzonspor for his signature.
