Robin Propper is Rangers transfer number EIGHT as Dutch defender pens Ibrox deal

Robin Propper has become signing number EIGHT for Rangers after the former FC Twente captain completed his move from the Eredivisie side on a X-year deal.

The defender, who turns 31 next month, joins the Light Blues just a week after Sam Lammers went in the opposite direction and will cost the Ibrox club around £2.5million. Propper's Glasgow switch sees the player move out of the Netherlands for the first time in his career after spending all of his playing days in Holland. He started out at De Graafschap before moving to Heracles Almelo ahead of his transfer to Twente three years ago.

Philippe Clement sanctioned the sale of central defender Connor Goldson to Aris Limassol last week and Propper has arrived to fill the Englishman's boots in the Ibrox backline. He joins fellow summer signings Liam Kelly, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Hamza Igamane, Connor Barron, Vaclav Cerny and Jefte.

After signing on the dotted line, Propper told the Rangers website: "Rangers is a big club and it feels really good to be here.

“I was glad to hear about the club wanting to sign me. I always said I wanted to have a new adventure in another country and when a club like Rangers comes in for you it feels surreal. This club breathes football and you want to play your football here.

“I spoke to Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny and they only had nice things to say about the club. It’s nice to see some familiar faces. You hear about the Rangers fans and how it is here and I am really happy to be here.”
