Connor Goldson draws the line at a Celtic tradition as Hagi heightens Rangers end game with cryptic update

Former Rangers star Connor Goldson refused to go the full hog and hug his Aris Limassol team-mates as he took part in the Cypriot top-flight club's traditional pre-match huddle.

The gesture – made famous by the Englishman's former Celtic – has become commonplace around the world, and while Goldson has no choice but to wear green and white, he stopped short of embracing newfound traditions with the Cypriot side as kept his hands placed behind his back.

Goldson isn't the first former Rangers player to lean on old habits with ex-teammate Scott Arfield staying clear when he was with Charlotte. And the former Canada international insists there wasn't a choice to make in his mind. He said: “I don’t think any ex-Rangers player has ever participated in a huddle. But it is what it is. We are all over the age of 12 and we can get on with things.”

Meanwhile, missing man Ianis Hagi appeared to hint his Rangers career has now reached the end. The Romania international – who featured for his country at Euro 2024 – endured. a torrid time on loan at Alaves last season and has been strongly linked with a return to former club Fiorentina in recent days.

And Hagi – who sparked fresh doubt – copied a quote shared on Odell Beckham's instagram page, which simply read: "If I post where I'm at I left already". The playmaker has two years left on his current deal but does not appear part of Philippe Clement's plans.
