Buildings across Greater Manchester taped-off as forensics scour scenes

Buildings across Greater Manchester were taped off with forensics at the scenes on Friday afternoon (August 23).

National Crime Agency officials were in attendance at two seperate scenes, thought to be linked, in both Stretford and Failsworth amid an investigation into drugs offences. Officers dressed in white suits could be seen entering a building near Bennett Street in Stretford on Friday, near a children's nursery.

Officials were seen coming out of the building with suitcases, with fire crews also at the scene. The focus remained centred around one property.

The National Crime Agency confirmed both scenes were linked in connection with an investigation into drugs offences, but declined to provide further details. A man in his 40s, from Sale, was arrested.

Elsewhere, officers were seen in attendance at a second scene off Hobson Street in Failsworth. A number of NCA vehicles were seen parked up on a site, with a storage unit also being searched.

An NCA spokesperson said in a statement: "On Thursday 22 August, NCA officers arrested a man in his 40s from Sale, Greater Manchester, on suspicion of drugs offences.

"He remains in custody for questioning. As part of this investigation, two properties in Trafford and Failsworth, both in Greater Manchester, are being searched. The investigation is ongoing and we are currently unable to comment further.”
