BREAKING: Stretch of major road shut due to 'police incident' - latest updates

A stretch of a main road just outside of Manchester city centre is closed off this morning due to a 'police incident'.

Cheetham Hill Road is currently shut between St Chad's Street and Knowsley Street. The road is closed on the northbound side.

The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for details.

A tweet posted by TfGM at around 7.40am this morning said: "A665 Cheetham Hill Road is closed northbound between St Chad's Street - Knowsley Street due to a police incident. @gnwbus #TfGMTraffic."
