Reeva Steenkamp was 29 years old when she was brutally murdered by her boyfriend, former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius. The much-loved model and activist was killed in the early hours of Valentine's Day 2013 at Pistorius' home in Pretoria, South Africa.

He shot her four times through a locked bathroom door, claiming he mistook her for an intruder. Pistorius was initially found guilty of culpable homicide - the equivalent of manslaughter in the UK.

He was sentenced to five years in 2014, which increased to 13 years and five months after when, a year later, South Africa's supreme court overturned the conviction and found him guilty of murder. Steenkamp's brother, Adam, said: "We’re going to keep all the positive things that we remember and know about my sister and we will try and continue with the things that she tried to make better.

We’ll miss her. "There’s a space missing inside all of the people that she knew that can’t be filled again." Born in Cape Town, Steenkamp moved to Johannesburg to pursue modelling.
