Scots star Robert MacIntyre is raring to go for the USPGA Championship after a walk along Oban beach in the pouring rain. The golfer has declared himself fighting fit for next week’s second Major of the season at Oak Hill.

MacIntyre was forced to withdraw from the Italian Open after one round last week with a back issue. But the 26-year-old is good to go for New York State with a trip back home also freshening mind as well as body.

MacIntyre said: “It’s far better. On the Wednesday morning, when I woke up I could hardly move, just from the way I’d slept.

When I woke up on Friday morning, I was like, 'This ain’t good'. The guys in the physio truck were absolutely brilliant. I’ll be good to go next week.
