Newcastle are facing a transfer dilemma with many unconvinced by the prospect of breaking the bank to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones. Eddie Howe is on the hunt for a new striker this summer and the Sweden international has emerged as a target but the potential cost is causing a headache at St.
James’s Park. The Magpies are currently pondering their next move regarding Isak with Sociedad currently valuing the player at £50 million, although a bid is yet to be made.
With Dwight Gayle joining Stoke City, the club are set to be one striker short for next season too. But the consensus in the North East is that, despite the demand coming down in recent weeks, the price remains too high for the liking of some.
There are also rumblings that the club are exploring an option that would allow them to pay the majority of the fee in a year’s time, although whether that is something the La Liga side would be interested in remains to be seen.
