Seven goals, four assists and frozen out - how players linked with Man United this summer are faring

If the summer transfer window teaches you anything it is that Manchester United will always be linked with hundreds of players.

Whether it is as a result of players pushing for a move or agents putting their clients' names out there in the hope of generating interest, a new name crops up every single day as far as United are concerned - and it was no different throughout the summer.

United ended the window having brought in five new faces, but it would have run into the hundreds had every transfer rumour posted online been believed. Some carried more substance than others, but many of them had little degree of accuracy, such as United's reported interest in Ivan Toney, who swapped Brentford for Saudi Arabia on deadline day.

With that said, MEN Sport has had a look at how five players who were often linked with United throughout the summer have started this season, either at a new club or at the club the Reds were linked with buying them off.

Before the summer transfer window had even officially opened for business on June 14, reports linking United with Olise were rife. Despite his questionable injury record, he had enjoyed an impressive 2023/24 campaign with Crystal Palace, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in just 19 Premier League appearances.

United were reportedly attracted to Olise because of his ability to score goals at a consistent rate from out wide. Antony had experienced another challenging season in 2023/24 and many felt United were in need of a right-winger.
