'It was crazy': Residents wake to 'almighty bang' and sirens following 'serious' crash on main road

Residents have shared their disbelief after being awoken on Sunday morning to a five-vehicle crash outside their home which saw a person rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to Hyde Road in Gorton, near Debdale Park and the Reddish bridge, just after 10am this morning (April 30) following reports of a five-car collision.

One person was cut from a vehicle and airlifted to hospital, with two others receiving treatment from ambulance staff at the scene.

Pictures from the scene showed one vehicle on its roof, while another appeared to have smashed into a wall.
